Over the years we have had so many excuses for courier companies failing to deliver to our motorway services clients:-

Delivery to a residential front door
“there was no one home” – again they run 24 hrs

We got so frustrated with this, and the business model that forces the drivers to fail, that we decided to do the deliveries ourselves. Our client’s get our PODs which include:

A picture of the actual product (we don’t just drop a plain box)
A picture of the actual person (thats in focus)
An actual name and location

NONE of our deliveries get lost.

As a hint…. they are big, yellow and electric!

In preparing for the press launch, we were asked to re brand and refresh pretty much all of the customer facing external walls on the site, as well as the slip road and main site totems.

You will see the before and after in the image.

This has been a really interesting project. Over several months, we worked with the client to deliver a refreshed site for the press event. It involved a lot of back and forth, design ideas and working with the brands to give a finish they are happy with.

Not to mention quite a few last minute curved balls, during the install, that we had to handle and resolve on the hoof. Install deadline was still met, seamlessly.

We are really proud of this one, a lot of work went into it and the final finish is brilliant.

Especially because we managed the supply in Canada, the UK and Europe at the same time so the product and quality were consistent!

So many of our clients that are based on the UK’s motorways and A roads have massive issues with deliveries. They waste hours of their time and hundreds of pounds dealing with it.

Driving the business OR packing the boxes?

Last week we took over a customers stock of print and non print items. Whilst this forms a key part of their business, “doing it in-house” has cost them significantly in time and service. 

We now list their entire product range, plus some ‘packs’ of consigned items they use regularly for ordering on line. 

Previously a job that took hours now takes seconds. For just a few pounds packs are shipped promptly and simply. Our ‘InterLockians’ take care of everything.

This week we will be meeting another customer looking for us to integrate this with other existing fulfilment centres. Again, InterLock will take care of everything even if we don’t supply the products. 

This gives you, your staff or your customers a single place to do everything, regardless of where it comes from.

To use a well used adage: “for you its a hobby, for us its our business”.

When we started Tessell8 we decided that we would all be based from home. 

This has allowed us (with flexible working) to achieve a much healthier work life balance. It also means we massively reduce our carbon footprint. None of us commute and we don’t operate offices that remain unoccupied, but use energy, for most of the hours in the week.

Having had solar power for over ten years, the benefits are not new to us. Since installing our original solar array we have generated over 42 megawatts of clean energy. 

This new installation allows us to more than double this number and store any unused energy. With a maximum 10kw generation capability alongside almost 30kw of on site storage. Extending our clean energy usage through the hours of darkness.

Our office and EV will now operate completely emission free for most of the year.

There are many different types of InterLockians (M8’s, Pixelites, Fair-locks, Eightlings and InterLockers) Each one performs a highly skilled function within the world of InterLock.

Tess heads up our A&V Inventory management team.

When we first started Tessell8 one of our core principles was “if we have to click it twice we’ll find a way to not click it at all”.

We want to spend more time understanding our clients and their business and not be distracted with handling our day to day. 

Off the back of this InterLock was born.

InterLock is our own global order and process management system. We have developed this from scratch rather than buy in an off the shelf or SAAS system we can’t control. We all know what it’s like when one of our favourite features gets retired because the new shiny way is quicker and ‘bettererer’ (except of course, it’s not).

It’s basically our own back office software that manages all the day to day transactions between our clients and partners around the world. Every day InterLock Ians handle orders via the incoming sales channels, making a number of business decisions and posting these out to our manufacturing partners and handling the transactional interaction until the orders are closed out.

For many of our clients we reduce their direct costs and risk by taking on the risk for elements of their supply chain. Essentially we handle the inventory and the risk within an agreed period. The upshot is a very complex and multi faceted actual (A) and virtual (V) inventory management requirement.

This week sees one of the most significant releases to InterLock for a long time.

We will put the finishing touches to the newest version of InterLock with A & V inventory built in.

That’s where Tess comes in.

Tess (and her team) will be beavering away in the background to keep an end to end transparent visibility of the SKUs, the risk and maturity dates at a component level.

Almost all of our clients will use this new system but, sadly, none of our customers will even know it’s there, or even know who Tess is.
